The iSimangaliso wetland park authority has been mandated to create and implement an Environmental Management Plan by the 4x4 BAN. Their mandate also specifies that they should submit annual reports, and an annual update to their Environmental Management plan.
The MSA (Municipal systems act) mandates the IWPA (iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority) to create and submit an Integrated Management Plan with annual reviews, as well as to work closely with the local Municipalities and local population within their area of jurisdiction, through consultative meetings and a public participation process that derives meaningful public participation.
